Our Services

John Costello - staff 3

We provide comprehensive eye care for both adults and children over the age of five. An eye exam involves much more than a simple vision screening. Even if you feel you are not having any problems with your vision, many ocular diseases have no symptoms and can only be detected with a thorough exam. Many health problems, such as diabetes and hypertension can be first detected in the eye.

Costello Eye Care has various automated and computerized instruments to streamline the exam process. Prior to entering the exam room, you will go through a series of tests using the latest technology available. Please bring a list of the names of all your medications (prescription and over the counter) as well as a list of any allergies to medications. Be sure to mention specific work, school, hobby, or sports-related visual issues.

Technology is rapidly changing the eye care field. We utilize the latest in diagnostic equipment and are committed to keeping up with whatever advances will come next. One of our additions is a camera that can document a view of the front and back of the eye. We feel this is very helpful when we discuss our findings with our patients.

Our newest addition is an RTVue FD-OCT retina scanner. It's a powerful, comprehensive tool for early pathology detection and treatment. It's 3D imaging allows a new perspective on the pathology not available before. The instrument takes detailed images of your retina and optic nerve and creates a 3D model that the doctor can manipulate. This will improve our diagnosis and management of many ocular conditions including glaucoma, macular degeneration, and the ocular manifestations of many systemic diseases.

Dry Eye Syndrome occurs when the normal flow of tears over the eyes is interrupted, or the tear film is abnormal.  Dry eye can be a life-long problem and while many times you can relieve the symptoms, you can’t cure the disease.  We offer the latest treatments to relieve your symptoms.

LASIK and Refractive Surgery Co-management

Many patients are happy wearing glasses and contacts, but others wish to enjoy the freedom that comes with LASIK eye surgery.  We work with LASIK surgeons in the region to make the process streamlined and simple for you.

LASIK technology has improved greatly since its first inception.  Newer Bladeless LASIK lasers can create thinner flaps and there is a reduction in side effects such as dryness, halos, and discomfort.  These lasers offer tracking devices to insure the treatment is accurate, even if your eyes inadvertently move during the procedure.

The process typically begins in our office with a comprehensive exam to determine if you are a candidate for LASIK.  We then work with the surgeon to take additional measurement before and after your procedure.  After LASIK, we will see you in our office for all of your follow up care.  Ask us if you are a good candidate at your next exam!

We’ve been fitting contact lenses for over 25 years and have seen some incredible changes over that time.  Newer contact lenses allow more oxygen to reach your cornea.  We fit the healthiest and most comfortable lenses we can - including lenses for astigmatism, multifocals, and rigid gas permeable lenses.  Daily disposable contacts are some of the healthiest lenses you can use.
